“Shy Daisy” a Semi-Finalist in Nature’s Best Backyards Photo Contest

Gazania in Rain

Our “shy daisy” is a semi-finalist in Nature’s Best Backyards Photography Contest.  This gazania is a favorite of bees and butterflies.  When it rains, the flower’s petals fold over to protect its pollen.  I couldn’t help but think that it looked like a shy daisy hiding its face from a storm!

About Pam
Richard and Pam lived in the San Francisco Bay Area 14 years (1987-1999 and 2008-2011). They lived in Florida 13 years previously, until returning in July 2011 to present. They hope their photography will encourage you to get out and discover nature's beauty in your own backyard, parks, and wild places. Click on any pictures on this blog to see them full size with additional details.

  1. Beautiful. Congrats! I am a former magazine and book photo editor and just started up a photography community/blog (hopefully leading to gallery exhibits, etc.) and would like to invite you to submit work if you think it is a match. I’m not sure if your lives have been touched by depression or other mental illness, either yourselves or others close to you, but that is our tie that binds. Please take a look, and join and/or submit if it feels right. We would welcome your talents to our community.
    All the best,
    D. and the Broken Light Collective
