Mermaid Diving in Spring

Weeki Wachee Springs is one of Florida’s newest state parks.  It is also one of Florida’s oldest tourist attractions.  Visitors have been watching the mermaid shows in the underwater theater since 1947.  For a mermaid to pass the final exam and earn her tail, she has to hold her breath for 2 1/2 minutes and dive 120 feet into the spring!  I was breathless watching her!  My favorite part of the show was when a turtle joined the mermaids in their underwater ballet.  More info is at:  http://weekiwachee.com/
