Big Sur: Stunning Pink Sand Beach!
August 17, 2012 15 Comments
Big Sur’s Pfeiffer Beach (south of Monterey) is famous for its pink and purple sand. The sand’s gorgeous color comes from manganese garnet particles that wash down the hillside. The further north you walk, the more colorful the sand. The photography opportunities are endless and ever-changing. This unique beach is absolutely stunning!
Fascinating…stunning!!
It is wonderful on a sunny day!
Your pictures are stunning and that sand is incredibly beautiful – never seen anything quite like it. Would love to visit.
It’s a gorgeous place! Visitors could enjoy San Francisco, Monterey, and then drive south to Big Sur on Highway 1 to Cambria (where you can see elephant seals and the Hearst Castle). Then you could loop back to San Francisco on Freeway 101. It’s a beautiful trip – especially in April or May when the wildflowers are blooming.
How amazing!!! What amazing images!!
We’ve never seen anyplace else quite like it!
Beautiful place. And no one around.
One of our favorite places! So unique.
This pink and lavender sands were gorgeous!
Still can’t believe it is real!
Pam I’m so glad you told me about this beach! It is a stunner. The patterns in the sand are stunning!
Thank you! It is hard to find, but incredible!
