Nesting time is here for our purple martins. Nests are being built, eggs are being laid, and babies are hatching! As of today we have 7 active nests with 10 tiny babies and 28 eggs. So fun!

  1. Aw, precious. What a wonderful gift, to be able to watch life beginning like this.

    WOW! Great photos, Pam!

Waited 15 years to have martins nest and this year there are two families. They sing at 4 am and actually love to hear them and watch them soar. Lucky guy I am. Waited a long time for this fun.

That is fantastic news! We love having martins so much. Our first year we had screech owls nest in one gourd. The next year we had two purple martin families. The only time we didn’t have them was when we lived in California (and we missed them so much). Now we have more every year. Got two gourd racks up, and maybe will put up a third next year. You are so lucky – enjoy the martins! I bet you will have more every year!
