The Monterey Bay Aquarium is one of the best aquariums in the world!  It is a place that we return to again and again.  It is mesmerizing watching the sea creatures on display.  A wonderful quote at the aquarium says “The sea is as near as we come to another world”.  I highly recommend a visit – it never fails to impress.  More info about the aquarium is at:  http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/

I have fond memories of this aquarium. I believe it is the first real aquarium I ever visited back in my youth. I grew up in the Bay Area and was going through the Steinbeck phase of my literary growth and my family took a trip to Monterey to traipse through Cannery Row and the aquarium was part of the agenda. Your post brought back many fond memories. Thank you.

That makes me happy! And please visit again with your granddaughters – it just keeps getting better and better. There are special behind-the-scenes tours and activities just for kids.

NEVER been, but have always, always wanted to see the conservation work they’re so famous for… 🙂

They do the best work! First rate all around. We are still members supporting them even though we moved to the opposite side of the country. And the surrounding area is stunning in wildlife and beauty – it makes for a fantastic vacation.
