Butterfly World is the largest butterfly park in the world!  This attraction is located in Coconut Creek, Florida (north of Miami).  The park contains 10 acres of botanical gardens, aviaries, and research facilities.  A minimum of 3,000 butterflies (of at least 50 different species) fly year-round inside the botanical gardens, and most of them were raised on-site.  The park also contains the country’s largest free-flight hummingbird aviary, and one of the largest collections of passion flower vines in the world.  Top missions are conservation and education.  This place is a true delight!  More info is at:  http://www.butterflyworld.com/

It is always beautiful! Bought a Passiflora royale at the nursery there. They are hard to come by – felt very lucky! I had to ask and they brought one out for me from the back.

  3. Pam, your photos are stunning! I can’t believe we never made it to Butterfly World after living in Florida for so many years. Now you’ve given me a new destination. And you introduced several butterflies that are new to me – birdwing and pianokey. Are they native to Florida? ~Terri

    • Pam says:

Thanks, Terri! It’s a nice place to visit year round, so stop by next time you are down this way. I wish the Birdwing and Piano Key were local, but they’re not. The Birdwing lives in the South Pacific, and the Piano Key lives in South America. They sure are beauties!
