Colorful Pebbles and Orange Turban Shell

Colorful Pebbles and Orange Turban Shell, San Mateo Coast South of San Francisco, California. We often see turban snails in tidepools along the California coast. Hermit crabs use their shells as a home. The white at the top of this orange shell is the result of age – turban snails can live from 30-100 years! Multicolored polished pebbles include green jade, red chert, white agate, and petrified wood.
