Colorful painted design on traditional house beside Utskalakirkja Church, which sits by the sea (built 1863). Earthen walls marked property boundaries in the past, thus the town’s name Gardur (which means garden or earth), northwest side of Reykjanes Peninsula, near Reykjavik, Iceland. This church is very close to the twin Gardskagaviti lighthouses. We especially enjoyed the mariner-themed gravestones in the adjacent cemetery.
