Sunrise over the Martin Gourds

Recently we did a count of babies and eggs in the purple martin gourds – the total was 135!!!  Wow!!!  The exact numbers are 103 babies, 32 eggs, plus 56 adults.  That is a grand total of 191 birds.  We have one or two more nests still coming along, so the total number of martins could easily top 200.  The birds are all different sizes and ages, with the first babies fledging today.  We love hearing them chirping and singing – so cheery!  Learn more about martins at:  https://www.purplemartin.org/
