Spectacular Dawn Rocket Launch!

We watched a stunning rocket launch yesterday at dawn here on the Space Coast of Florida! An Atlas V rocket blasted off at 6:13 am and successfully placed a communications satellite into orbit. Sunlight from below the horizon lit up the rocket’s exhaust plume and ice particles formed from it at high altitudes. The resulting effect was spectacular space art in the sky – WOW!
GREAT PICTURES!!!!
Thank you! It was beautiful!
Amazing photos! What a spectacular sight to see!
It was an amazing way to start the day!
WOW, spectacular indeed!
Still excited by that one!
You were lucky as usual. A good work.
We were lucky! It was a spectacular sight! There was quite a nice rumble afterward as the sound of liftoff reached us.
AEHF-5 going up on an Atlas 551 booster 🙂 I was in a control room in Sunnyvale, CA, monitoring the launch, booster separation and orbit raising activity. She’s a good satellite on her way to Geosync’.
That is so awesome and exciting!! And we know your area well. Lived in the Bay Area a long time. So cool!
Wow!!! Your photos of this event are absolutely spectacular, Pam!✨
Thank you! Nothing like a launch – especially at dawn or dusk. Wow!
We go up there all the time to go birding at Merritt Island, only about three hours from us. But we have never even been to the space center!
It’s a great place to bird. The bird festival is in late January.
Yes!! We went last year and I hope to go again for at least part of the festival this year. Have you been? Great speakers!
Yes it’s a great festival!
