The town of Christmas, Florida, is very popular this time of year!  People travel from all around to have their mail postmarked at the community’s single post office.  The town is located east of Orlando, and has a Christmas display set up year round.  The sign beside the Christmas tree reads: “The permanent Christmas tree at Christmas, Florida is the symbol of love and good will – the Christmas spirit every day in the year.”  Santa jokes that it is much warmer in Florida than in the town of North Pole, Alaska.  A bulletin board inside the post office is decorated with letters to Santa from around the world.  This happy town is a fun place to visit!  And if you like hiking and bird watching, the Orlando Wetlands is located nearby (http://orlandowetlands.org/about.php).

Monterey Bay Aquarium: Wild Baby Sea Otter Born in Outdoor Tidepool

A wild baby sea otter was born in the outdoor tidepool at Monterey Bay Aquarium, California, on December 20, 2015.  The cutest present to the Aquarium ever!  The mother and pup have direct access to the ocean and are free to come and go as they please.  Links and adorable pictures are at:

Recently we enjoyed the annual Merritt Island Holiday Boat Parade on Sykes Creek, Florida.  We sat on the dock and watched over 70 Christmas-themed boats sail by.  Each one was covered with up to 1,000 colorful lights.  Some participants added to the fun by throwing candy.  The lights and reflections on the water were magic!  More info is at:  http://www.cffw.org/events/

Living Nativity (performed on stage since 1933)

A tradition in New York City during the holidays is to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. The show features the Rockettes, who are precision dancers famous for high kicking chorus lines. Santa hosts the show, which features dancing teddy bears; a 3-D sleigh ride; and nativity with live sheep, camels, and donkeys (performed since 1933). Each snowflake costume contains 3,000 Swarovski crystals. The 35-foot-tall Christmas tree chandelier in the lobby is stunning! More info is at: http://radiocitychristmas.com/
