Spectacular SpaceX Crew-2 Launch!

SpaceX launched four astronauts of the Crew-2 mission into space at 5:49 am this morning (April 23, 2021). It was a spectacular sight here on the Space Coast of Florida – a magical moment of wonder! As I watched the rocket arc into the sky, I could hear the predawn birds calling and an alligator bellowing. A short time later the roar of the engines reached me at our backyard in Palm Bay. The crew will dock at the International Space Station on early Saturday morning for a six month stay. Learn more at: https://www.spacex.com/launches/

That’s amazing – it went a long ways into the distance! The absolute most beautiful launches of all are an hour before sunrise and an hour after sunset. Glad the astronauts made it safely to the ISS.
Excellent series of photos Pam. When we lived in St. Augustine we saw a few launches, but none were as clear as this one. And of course, our photos didn’t even approach this quality. Very well done! ~ James
Thank you! We never take launches for granted – we get excited every single time. There are supposed to be a record number this year. Nice thing we can do even from our own backyard!
